Wonderful choices. I'd have added 'Amadeus', 'In the Mood for Love', 'The English Patient' and 'Raise the Red Lantern' (and oh so many, many more).
I reluctantly left out Milos Forman (was a choice between Amadeus and The People vs Larry Flynt)- I had to leave out so many films and directors that I'm tempted to expand it to a 150 films, 150 directors list.
You could always add a fresh post with 100 more films. The framing for such a post can lead to many further creative decisions :)
This is true! I’m already working on a different type within the same constraints.
It’s also beginning to tell me a lot about the films I like to watch and my biases, so that’s informative.

I think there's something both wonderful and frustrating about films that are yet to be watched. I've still got Stardust Memories on my to-watch list.
